Cooper Lake Staff Home (NEW Opportunity!)

In July of 2007 we demolished the existing home which was included when Camp Olson purchased the Camp Seclusion Resort property in 1999. With patchwork and patience Jay, our Facility Manager, and his family have utilized this inefficient home the past three years. The new split-level home is being built on the existing site and is estimated to cost between $85,000-$100,000 after receiving in-kind donations and professional volunteer labor. A lead gift of over $9,000.00 from Tom and Deb Crowley, long time family campers and two subsequent gifts and pledges of $5,000.00 have already been committed towards this project. Old Hickory Dining Hall Furniture (NEW Opportunity!) - Funding Completed

CoAs our improvements open up more space, we are in the process of adding furniture to our dining hall. The Old Hickory chairs and table in our dining hall have seated campers for more than 50 years. They are the unsung heroes of our Camp Olson furniture as they have proved amazingly durable and comfortable for rear ends of all ages. These pretty wooden chairs and tables may not be the first thing that you think of when you think of Camp Olson, but who could imagine the dining hall without them? The recent renovations of the dining hall will allow space for an additional 50 diners, easing the cramped main room of the dining hall and ensuring that everyone can eat together rather than in shifts. It is our intention to furnish this extra space with those same reliable chairs as we all know and love and the Old Hickory Furniture Company has offered us special pricing. You can help by Sponsoring- a- Chair! For the price of $220.00 per chair and/or a table fro $1,100.00 allowing you and your family to leave a lasting legacy to all the wonderful campers that attend Camp Olson for at least another 50 years! It is our goal to purchase 70 new hickory chairs and seven tables.

Dining Hall Renovation (NEW Opportunity!)

All that have experienced Camp Olson have been awed by our dining facility. The beautiful split stone fireplaces, the wagon wheel lamps hanging from the cathedral ceiling and the feeling of being outside as one gazes out the east end windows enjoying a sunrise. None of this will change, only improve as we prepare our dining hall for future generations. Phase I renovations will include new windows and doors throughout the dining hall, outdoor seating added to the east, and a complete renovation to the west end to increase dining capacity. The center wall has already been removed between the old nature center and camper lounge and the ceiling has been transitioned from flat to cathedral. Phase one renovations are estimated to cost $50,000.00. We are very grateful for a lead gift of $10,000 from Pierce and Ann Mond Johnson. This gift provides the momentum to move forward with Phase I renovations. Phase II renovations will include wood refinishing of the entire main dining hall, new flooring, electrical updates, repairs to fireplaces and architectural designs for phase three. Estimated cost for phase II renovations are currently $85,000-$90,000. Phase III will include a complete remodeling of and addition to our kitchen, improvements to the water well, septic and utility upgrades, roof replacement, landscaping, and major appliance upgrades. Estimated costs are not yet available.

Annual Campaign

Contributions are absolutely critical to fulfilling the Camp Olson’s mission. Camp fees and other earned income cannot completely cover the costs of underwriting our numerous programs - only private funds can make these programs possible. You can help!

Scholarship Gifts

Are used to provide funding for families needing financial assistance in sending a child to camp. Help make a child’s dream come true!

Memorial and Honor Gifts

Camp Olson YMCA welcomes gifts made in honor or in memory of someone. A card is sent to the recipient or family of the recipient. This has proven to be one of the most meaningful ways to show your love and/or admiration for someone else. Your gift can be designated for a particular program or directly into the general fund benefiting the entire organization.

Matching Gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift to:

Camp Olson YMCA
4160 Little Boy Rd NE

Longville, MN  56655

We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to the Camp Olson may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

Wish List Gifts
The purpose of the Wish List is to enable a donor to earmark additional contributions toward a specific item or project that is needed at Camp Olson. Click here for a complete Wish List. We ask that the Wish List be above and beyond annual donations.

In-Kind Gifts/ Tangible Property Gifts - A gift in-kind is a non-cash donation of supplies, equipment, real estate, boats and vehicles and other property Camp Olson YMCA can use and/or has financial value. Receipts will be prepared by Camp Olson and issued to the donor of in-kind gifts.  Any in-kind gift in excess of $5,000 requires the donor to complete IRS form 8283 and requires Camp Olson’s acknowledgement statement verifying the receipt of the donated in-kind gift.  Values on these gifts must be established by the donor.
