The Camp Olson Health Care Center and Bathhouse Facility
On September 15, 2008 we broke ground on a new Health Care Center.
For the first time in 54 years we will have a facility that is designed to address the health and wellness needs of our campers and staff. We are taking the skills and knowledge gained from operating for 54 summers in the east end of the Ranch House to help us build a camper-friendly, code-compliant facility. We extend our thanks to numerous health care professionals within the Camp Olson family for providing their input on the final designs!

This is the most significant new structure camp has built in its history, and it will address multiple needs. The major features of the main level will include a walk-up medication dispensing area, a treatment/examination room, and four overnight patient rooms. The lower level will provide camp with additional restrooms and showers (finally some relief for the White Palace!) and additional storm shelter space. It will be a year-round facility, and will be nestled into a stand of trees just west of the Craft Shop, centrally located near many program areas. Considered to be a signature building that campers and visitors will view as they approach the main area of camp, it has been designed to reflect its Northwoods surroundings with a half-log and stone exterior.
We have just completed a very successful silent phase of fundraising for the Health Care Center. During the past two months Camp Olson has received donations and pledges for $324,000 toward the total cost of $570,000. This is fantastic! It will allow us to break ground on September 15th and get the shell constructed, while simultaneously continuing our fundraising efforts. If our next stage of fundraising is successful, we will be able to complete the interior and have this critically-needed project ready to open for the 2009 camping season!
We hope you can help make this happen. We are asking all of our friends, alumni and supporters to make an investment in this facility. We ask you to consider a gift of $1,000 to $5,000 or more which could be made as a one-time gift, or spread over two or three years. We ask that, in your thought process, this is above and beyond your annual gift to Camp Olson.
We know this is a significant request.
We hope you will join us in supporting this exciting project!
