Camp Olson YMCA has been a strong, positive influence in YMCA camping since 1954 when E.O. Olson and his wife Bella, made their gift to the YMCA. Camp Olson YMCA is an independently Chartered YMCA.
Attendance during the 2007 summer camping season was 729 campers in the Summer Camp Program for a total of 978 camper weeks. In addition to eight weeks of “kids” camp, Camp Olson YMCA also provides two weeks of family camp and day camps. The Summer Camp Program consists of one-week Pathfinder camps for first-time campers ages 8-9; one and two-week Discovery camps ages 9-15, one and two-week specialty Sailing and Riding camps ages 11-15, Ranger camp ages 12-14, Leadership in Training (LIT) programs ages 14-15 and Counselor in Training programs (CIT) age 16. During the 2007 Summer over 250 children received almost $52,000 in scholarship assistance. We make every effort to assure that every child who wants to attend Camp Olson can do so regardless of financial limitations. We have three full-time staff members, a part-time office manager and 55 seasonal staff members. Camp Olson is situated on 1250 acres with shoreline on five lakes at our site in Longville.
